Music Showcase

"Such a magnificent delight to bring into existence "Don't take my Soul" our sophomore album, depicting the pilgrimage back to connection with our roots and find clarity and balance.

This album is a reach out, a fervent and vulnerable anthemic conversation about identity, origins and reality. So much appreciation to the diaspora community for the influences and inspiration. Special thanks and deep gratitude to the Almighty mother, Asaaseyaa and all the Gods and Ancestors, especially to my Grandmother, Sarah, for her continued blessings.

This album wouldn't be possible without expressing my sincere gratitude for the love, warmth and support brought by everyone involved. My children and Family, my partner Jemma, GUTS, Heavenly Sweetness, Pura vida, the band both in U.K and Ghana and to Beda, Ben Haskins, Robin Downes and Owen Burns.

I hope this album blesses you and your family, helping you to find and protect your SOUL.

One love and blessings, always,

K.O.G"

“Like a Tree” is a track by K.O.G (Kweku of Ghana) from his album Zone 6, Agege. The song blends soulful Afrobeat rhythms with expressive vocals and rich instrumentation, driven by percussion, horns, guitar, and layered voices that reflect K.O.G’s eclectic style. Musically it feels rooted in Afro‑fusion and soul, with a sound that carries both rhythmic momentum and emotional depth. The title and mood evoke imagery of strength and rootedness — much like a tree standing firm and alive within a landscape — while also underscoring themes of resilience and connection. The song’s style fits within the broader album’s celebration of motion, community and cultural energy.

Wahala Wahala is the debut album from K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade, released in 2019 on Heavenly Sweetness. The title — wahala wahala — draws from West African language and culture, referring to trouble, difficulty, or stress, and this concept is woven through the record both thematically and emotionally. The album channels high‑energy Afro‑fusion rhythms rooted in West African grooves and enlivened by an ensemble of percussion, electric brass, sharp guitar, and powerful vocals.

Under the leadership of Ghana‑born K.O.G (Kweku Sackey) and featuring Jamaican rapper Franz Von, the Zongo Brigade blend Afrobeat, soul, funk, hip hop, reggae, and jazz in a way that’s both deeply rhythmic and irresistibly danceable. Songs like For My People open with vibrant, Afrocentric pulse, while other tracks explore social themes — love, resilience, inequality and identity — with urgency and celebration.

Rather than smoothing over struggle, the album embraces it, turning “wahala” into a form of strength and collective voice. With a live, communal feel — often recorded with the whole band playing together — Wahala Wahala captures the spirit of the streets and the stage alike, transforming challenges into music that moves both the body and the mind.
